Perhaps as much as 10% of our population takes aspirin or similar pain meds regularly to help with chronic pain conditions.  The problem is that using these pain meds multiple times per week on a regular basis is connected to increased risk of renal cell cancer, cartilage damage, gastrointestinal complications, and even hearing loss.  If a doctor has instructed you to take aspirin or a similar over-the-counter medicine on a regular basis, your doctor has already weighed the pros and cons of the medication.  However, most people taking these meds routinely are self-medicating – thinking that the pills are harmless.  See your doctor or see us to make sure you are on the right track.
